How To Build A Solar Power Unit For Home? Step-by-Step Guide To Build Your Own With Ease

step by step guide on building a solar power unit at home generator DIY step by step

Sun is known as the most powerful source of renewable energy. Research is going on to invent automobiles, which can operate on solar energy. In the same way, you can also try to make solar power units on your own. It would help you to run small items like camera, TV, lights, etc at your house.

This is going to be a fun project and in the end, you can save on your energy bills as well. It is not as difficult to build as you might think. At first, you need to procure the materials required for making the solar power unit.

You need to have a solar panel; you can either make it or buy it from the market. It should be between the range of 12 and 16 volts. You should buy rechargeable gel or acid batteries as well as a battery box as it would be safer to use.

Then you need to purchase a DC input and DC meter. You would need an inverter as well since you are going to use electrical appliances. You would be able to get all these items from the market at a very cheap rate considering the amount you need to pay as bills every month.

Dc Meter Input

In order to join the DC meter with DC input, you would need to use screws and a drill machine. These parts would be attached above the battery box. After that, you need to join the meter with the insulated wire at the terminal points of the battery.

Check all the wire positions and attach the negative poles to the battery before you attach the positive poles. You would now have to attach the DC inlet with the battery and the battery with the solar panel. It is very important to close the cover of the solar panel tightly.

You can use rope, cords or things like that to ensure that the panel is shut securely. After that, you need to keep the solar panel under direct sunlight to charge it and it would take about 5 to 8 hours to charge the dead batteries completely. However, it would just take 1 to 3 hours to charge a dying or weak battery.

With this energy, you can boil water, run electrical items like radio, fans, lights and air-conditioner as well for 5 hours provided the AC runs at 115 volts. If you want more power to run electrical appliances, which need more energy, then you need to use larger solar panel, batteries that are more powerful and heavier inverters.

This would also help the appliances to run for longer which would make you save more on your energy bills. However, the items that you would purchase to make the more powerful solar unit would cost you a bit more but the process to install it would remain the same.

Since, it may not be possible for you to make the solar power on your own completely, you can take the help of a family member or friend who can help you to pass on items or hold something, which you may ask him to do.
